Environment

Environmental sustainability is at the core of our business approach. We generate value by integrating sustainability into the way we design high-quality products and services. Our most significant impact lies in the areas of climate, waste, water, and nature.

Refrigerant Recovery

Daikin Malaysia actively recovers refrigerants through its affiliates, DMSS and AMSS, during servicing and maintenance of air conditioning units. These recovered refrigerants are then sent to a licensed facility for processing and purification to meet the ARI-700 standards (purity >99.5%). Old air conditioning units are also recycled at licensed facilities, ensuring e-waste is properly managed. This initiative is part of Daikin's commitment to sustainability and achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.

Use of Renewable Energy

Heeding the call of the Malaysian government to encourage the uptake of solar power in Malaysia, Daikin Malaysia is among the pioneers to adopt solar solutions on their rooftops during the Net Metering Scheme (NEM), showcasing our dedication to a greener future.  Our aim to adopt solar solutions under this scheme is to reduce our reliance on conventional energy sources and contribute to a greener environment.

Encouraging Recycling and Minimizing Waste

We carry out recycling initiatives with the goal of reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfills. As part of our commitment to promoting material recycling, we provide recycling bins for employees, separating food waste with general trash for composting and participating in recycling activity with the local community.

Research and Development of Energy Efficient HVAC Systems

Daikin Malaysia through its subsidiary Daikin Research and Development Malaysia (DRDM) is actively involved in research and development in developing new and improved energy efficient systems to reduce energy consumption, lower carbon emissions, and promote a more sustainable approach to cooling and heating.
