Daikin Malaysia and Selangor FC Renew Strategic Partnership for Third Consecutive Year, Strengthening Commitment to Football, Community, and Sustainability

Petaling Jaya, 24 July 2025 – Daikin Malaysia today marked the third consecutive year of its strategic partnership with Selangor Football Club (SFC), renewing its commitment as Platinum Sponsor in a signing ceremony graced by His Highness DYTM Raja Muda Selangor Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj. The event underscored shared values of unity, team spirit, innovation, and community wellness.

The renewal reflects a deepening relationship between one of the world’s leading air conditioning brands and one of Malaysia’s most storied football clubs, built on a common vision to uplift communities through football while driving innovation and sustainability.

In his remarks, His Highness Tengku Amir Shah expressed his deep appreciation for Daikin’s unwavering trust and commitment:

“You stand here not merely as a corporate sponsor, but as a true partner in purpose – a partner who has chosen to invest in dreams, nurture talent, and uplift communities through football.”

His Highness highlighted how Daikin’s support has contributed significantly to Selangor FC’s resurgence, including qualifying for the AFC Champions League 2 in the first year of the partnership after an eight-year absence, and creating history by defeating Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC – one of Asia’s football giants – for the first time in fifty years. With Daikin’s support, Selangor FC also secured second place in the Malaysia Super League for two consecutive seasons, ensuring consistent qualification for Asian competitions.

Chief Operating Officer of Daikin Malaysia, Mr. Toshiharu Tsurumaru, said:

“This renewal is not just a continuation of our support, but a reaffirmation of our long-term commitment to values that matter deeply to us, which are unity, team spirit, and a healthy lifestyle.”

Daikin’s involvement with Selangor FC aligns with its broader corporate philosophy of enriching communities and building long-term relationships. Supporting football, a sport rooted in teamwork, resilience, and passion, mirrors the very principles Daikin upholds within its culture of innovation and shared purpose.

“We believe that investing in local sports is a meaningful way to give back to the community and to stand in unity with the people of this great state,” Tsurumaru added.

Beyond achievements on the pitch, Daikin and Selangor FC have jointly implemented impactful community programmes. Most recently, during Ramadan, Daikin played a key role in Selangor FC’s Cahaya Ramadan: 30 Rumah 30 Harapan initiative, providing essential aid to 30 underprivileged families across Selangor, reflecting Daikin’s broader humanitarian efforts and its commitment to compassion and solidarity.

Tsurumaru further shared Daikin’s vision for sustainability and affordability:

“At Daikin, our core principles go beyond producing world-class air conditioning systems. We believe in contributing to the well-being of communities, creating a positive impact, and building lasting relationships. Supporting Selangor FC allows us to do just that – by championing a sport that brings people together, encourages active living, and fosters strong community bonds.”

This third-year collaboration also strengthens Daikin’s platform for community engagement, brand visibility, and environmental advocacy. Under the theme “Cooling the Future, Powering A Sustainable Selangor,” Daikin aims to raise awareness about refrigerant recovery, energy efficiency, and sustainability, connecting with fans in ways that extend beyond conventional marketing.

His Highness commended these efforts:

“I would like to commend Daikin’s continuous efforts to remain at the forefront of innovation, by introducing solutions such as POAS that bring affordability, satisfaction, and peace of mind to their customers and the communities they serve. Through POAS, more Selangor FC fans will be able to own and enjoy Daikin’s products and solutions at the comfort of their homes.”

In closing, Tsurumaru expressed appreciation to Selangor FC’s management for their trust and collaboration:

“Together, Daikin Malaysia and Selangor FC can achieve more both on and off the field. This is a win-win collaboration that unites sporting passion with corporate purpose.”

The third-year renewal marks another milestone in a growing relationship built on shared values, mutual growth, and a joint vision for a more sustainable, united, and inspiring Selangor.
