Daikin Malaysia Extends Joint Strategic Collaboration with Selangor FC For The 2nd Year

Kuala Lumpur, February 1st 2024 – Daikin Malaysia is proud to continue its collaboration with Selangor Football Club for the second year as the official Platinum Partner, following the signing ceremony of the cooperation agreement document between the two parties held at Daikin Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Sungai Buloh.

The document signing ceremony was witnessed by Selangor FC Chairman, His Royal Highness Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj and Daikin Malaysia Sdn Bhd Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Toshiharu Tsurumaru. It was also attended by Chief Executive Officer of Selangor FC, Dr. Johan Kamal Hamidon and Mr. Lawrence Song, Managing Director of Daikin Malaysia Sales & Service Sdn Bhd.

The sponsorship was renewed this time, with Daikin Malaysia supporting the Selangor FC squad for their second year as a strategic partner of the club as they compete in the Malaysian League for the 2024 season, which begins in May.

Chief Operating Officer of Daikin Malaysia, Mr. Toshiharu Tsurumaru said, “We at Daikin Malaysia are very happy to embark on this journey together with Selangor FC. Our shared vision is to create memorable moments, inspire greatness, and leave a lasting impact on the football community. This year, Daikin Industries Ltd is celebrating its 100th year anniversary and we have turn crises into opportunities and subsequently experience growth as people are our source of competitiveness. Hence, we find Selangor Football Club’s dedication towards teamwork, inclusivity and passion align with ours, making this partnership a natural fit. We are confident that together, we will mutually impact each other’s achievements”.

Meanwhile, Dr. Johan Kamal Hamidon, Chief Executive Officer of Selangor Football Club, is grateful for the continuance of this relationship, which he feels will benefit both sides.

“First and foremost, congratulations on Daikin’s 100th anniversary. We at Selangor FC are extremely pleased and honored that Daikin Malaysia desires to continue supporting the squad for the 2024 season. This is a huge milestone for the club since we have secured approval from an international company, such as Daikin Malaysia, to be one of the team’s key sponsors for the second year in a row. We will work hard to return the faith placed in us, and we will continue to share our expertise in order to fulfill the objectives of our collaboration,” he said.

His Royal Highness Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, Chairman of Selangor FC, also expressed his delight immediately following the signing ceremony.
“I am glad to see that Daikin Malaysia plans to continue its association with Selangor Football Club in the 2024 season. With that, I’d want to convey my deepest appreciation to Daikin for their willingness to assist the team for the past two years. I am confident that this partnership agreement would spark the interest of other organizations in Malaysia and abroad in becoming strategic partners with Selangor Football Club in the future,” added His Majesty.

After the signing ceremony, His Royal Highness Tengku Amir Shah Ibni Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj and his entourage were given a tour in Daikin’s factory, its Research and Development Center (R&D) and Daikin Academy. During the factory tour, His Royal Highness were given the opportunity to observe how Daikin products are being manufactured, the processes at work and Daikin’s quality management. His Royal Highness also toured several facilities at the Daikin R&D Center, including Sound Lab and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) test facilities, where he was shown how Daikin products meet or surpass regulatory standards thanks to Daikin’s in-depth R&D. Additionally, His Royal Highness had the opportunity to visit Daikin Academy where he learns that Daikin places utmost importance on human resource development through People-Centered Management (PCM). Daikin Academy has various programs in place such as Technical Training in Daikin’s own Dojo where employees are trained to achieve the required skill for production and Internal Training to young executives to develop future leaders of Daikin. Apart from that, Daikin also collaborated with various Malaysian Government Agencies and Education Institutions in upskilling programs to contribute and invest towards the Malaysian society to create a competent workforce.
