Daikin Malaysia Supports Flood Victims in East Coast Malaysia with RM150,000 Donation

SUNGAI BULOH: At the end of November 2024, Malaysia was severely affected by the Northeast Monsoon, leading to heavy rainfall and widespread flooding across nine states, including Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, Pahang, Negeri Sembilan, Johor, Perak, Melaka, and Perlis. The relentless downpours caused significant damage to homes, infrastructure, and livelihoods, impacting thousands of families and communities, particularly in the East Coast region.

In response to this ongoing humanitarian crisis, Daikin Malaysia Sdn Bhd has extended a helping hand by donating RM150,000 to the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) to support the flood victims. The donation is part of Daikin Malaysia’s ongoing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives, demonstrating the company’s deep commitment to aiding vulnerable communities during times of hardship.

The cheque presentation ceremony took place in Daikin Malaysia Sdn Bhd Headquarters in Sungai Buloh, with Mr. Tan Yong Cheem, representative from Daikin Malaysia Sdn Bhd, handing over the symbolic mock cheque to Tn. Hj. Hakim Hamzah, Secretary General of the Malaysian Red Crescent. This gesture underscores both organisations’ shared commitment to relief efforts and providing aid to those most affected by the devastating floods.

Mr. Tan Yong Cheem, Vice President Production, at Daikin Malaysia, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with the Malaysian Red Crescent in support of the flood victims. “At Daikin, we are committed to supporting communities in times of need. The recent floods have left many families displaced and in distress, and we hope this contribution will help provide essential assistance, including relief supplies, food, and hygiene promotions to those who need it most.”

Tn. Hj. Hakim Hamzah, Secretary General of the Malaysian Red Crescent, acknowledged the generous donation and emphasized the importance of corporate partnerships in disaster relief efforts. “We are deeply grateful for Daikin Malaysia’s timely support.
