DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT AND DAIKIN DRIVE CLIMATE AWARENESS WITH LAUNCH OF ‘SUSTAINABLE YOU’ CONJUCTION WITH NATIONAL WORLD OZONE DAY CELEBRATION 2024

Daikin Malaysia, in collaboration with the Department of Environment (DOE), launched the “Sustainable You” book in conjunction with the World Ozone Day 2024 celebration, with this year’s theme being “Montreal Protocol: Advancing Climate Action.” The launch was officiated by Dato’ Wan Abdul Latiff Bin Wan Jaffar, Director-General of the Department of Environment.

This book serves as a comprehensive guide aimed at raising awareness among the younger generation about climate change, carbon footprints, air pollution, and other critical environmental issues. This initiative is part of Daikin’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts, closely collaborating with the government to inspire proactive solutions for building a sustainable future.

The content of the book is designed to educate and empower the next generation to better understand the urgent environmental challenges we face today. Through engaging material and practical advice, the book emphasizes the importance of reducing carbon footprints, improving air quality, and making sustainable choices to protect the environment for future generations.

In addition to explaining the science behind climate change and air pollution, the book also provides clear steps on how individuals can make a difference. This includes energy-efficient practices, responsible waste management, and advocacy for cleaner technologies. The goal is to show young readers that small actions, when multiplied, can have a big impact.

“We believe education is the foundation of lasting change, and through our collaboration with DOE in this initiative, we are ensuring that young people are equipped with the knowledge and tools to tackle environmental challenges. Climate change is not just a global issue but a personal one, and “Sustainable You” makes a clear message: everyone has a role to play in building a sustainable future,” said Mr. Lawrence Song, Managing Director of Daikin Malaysia Sales & Service Sdn Bhd.

“DOE consistently supports the industry in efforts to deliver clear messages to the public, as demonstrated by Daikin’s initiatives to protect the environment. It is my sincere hope that the book “Sustainable You” will inspire us all to embrace a more sustainable lifestyle, continuing our efforts to protect the ozone layer and advance climate action,” said Dato’ Wan Abdul Latiff Bin Wan Jaffar, Director-General of the Department of Environment.

The collaboration with Daikin on this project aims to raise awareness among youth about embedding sustainability into Malaysian culture. As part of Daikin’s broader CSR, the launch of this book also highlights the industry’s commitment to environmental preservation and social responsibility.

Daikin’s efforts include both innovative technological solutions and educational initiatives to help reduce the impact of pollution on the environment. The book also offers practical steps that can be taken at all levels, from individual lifestyle changes to community efforts. The book will be distributed through schools, youth centers, and online platforms to be accessible to the public in Malaysia.
