O.Y.L. Manufacturing Company Sdn. Bhd. was acquired by Daikin back in the year 2006. But it wasn’t until recently that the company’s name was officially changed to Daikin Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. A special name-changing ceremony took place in the lobby of the Daikin Malaysia building on 16th December 2015 to mark this momentous occasion.

The ceremony began at 9 am with approximately 240 honourable guests from Daikin Headquarters (Japan), Asia Oceania Emerging District (AED), Electrical Industry Workers’ Union (EIWU) and sister companies from Daikin Malaysia (DAMA) Group. Mr. Fang Yuan, Regional General Manager of Asia Oceania Emerging District officiated the ceremony by launching the gimmick, which marks the historical moment of the name-change. This was followed by plaque signings on behalf of the Daikin Group.

The event progressed with a performance of live quick costume change, which captivated the audience. The performers changed from the old O.Y.L. uniform to the new Daikin uniform within seconds, which further adds definition to the name-change. The ceremony ended with a closing speech given by Mr. Ooi Cheng Suan, COO of Daikin Malaysia Group, encouraging the members to strive for better performance and to be passionate in their undertakings to achieve world class standard.

As a token of appreciation for all the employees’ support, free flow of catered food, drinks, fruits and ice cream was provided for everyone present. Everyone regaled in laughter and cheer, proudly accepting the new identity of the company.
